My PhD research focused on the organizational impacts of large-scale / enterprise-level information systems and from there my work has mainly centered on the triad of information, organization and psycho-sociology / culture.
Around 1998 I took special interest in the (then) emerging field of Knowledge Management ... from a sociology of knowledge perspective ... secretly hoping this upstart would revolutionize business institutions. My conclusion today is this: the pull of technological innovation has done far more to change managerial practice and organizational design than the push of enlightened rhetoric
Even so, it's all much too painfully slow.
